Joshua Marquis

I graduated from CHS a year early and traveled. Went to the University of Oregon where I received my Bachelor and Law degrees.
Worked as a print and radio journalist until passing the Bar in 1981.
Worked as a Deputy DA, then moved back to LA to be a newspaper columnist, then speechwriter to California Atty. General.
Returned to Oregon where in 1985 I prosecuted my first murder trial. Was Chief Deputy DA in two counties before being appointed, then elected District Attorney in Astoria, OR. Met my wife at a party of people who thought OJ Simpson should have been convicted, and married her in 1996. Just celebrated 25 year anniversary. Re-elected 6 times, retired in 2019, continue practicing law partime

Two favorite memories, both working with the late Greg Brown (‘69)

First, helped plan and execute “Walk for Development,” a 32 mile course where students raised money by getting donations per mile. Beneficiary was an sub-Saharan African country.

Second was film we produced for graduation in 1969. It’s now lost…
